I know several members of the club have more QSOs and/or higher scores, but
today I reached "Level 4" in the ARRL Centennial challenge (>15,000 points). I
concentrated more on the "high-value" targets and let the number of Qs fall
where they may.
On a semi-related note, I cobbled together a 160-meter antenna and played a
little in the ARRL 160-meter contest. I made 121 Qs and worked 40 states and 7
countries. Considering that my 45' high (in the middle) inverted-vee, with ends
a few feet high is supposed to radiate straight up, this wasn't too bad. I must
credit ARRL for ordering up decent propagation and remarkably low noise over the
weekend. Also I must credit the fantastic ops who dug me out of the noise. And
a final note, I'm glad the K3 has a digital, not analog, S-meter or WA7NB would
be owing me a new one.
