Jacob,

What ever you do - DON'T GIVE UP homebrewing antennas!

Try again with the pieces you have left over.

1] Drill 3 evenly spaced holes in a 6 ft piece of 2"x2" piece of lumber.
2] Soak or brush the 2x2 with a couple of coats of SPAR-VARNISH & let it
dry for a couple of days.
3] Using the dimensions in the ARRL Handbook, cut 3 pieces of 1/2 copper
tubing to the proper lengths: reflector, driven, director.
4] Insert the tubing in the holes, and Drill a hole from the top of the 2x2
through the wood and through the tubing and through the wood at the bottom,
for each of the 3 elements. Hole size to accommodate
10-32 machine screw, use fender washer under head of screw and under the nut.
5] Again using the dimensions in the Handbook, cut some smaller diameter
lengths to be used as the pieces for the "T" match.
6] Construct a couple of brackets that form the outer portion of the "T"
match for tuning, and once you have tuned it antenna, you can solder them in
place.
7] All that is left is to construct a balun, again size in handbook, COAX
fitting, and 2 non-metalic supports where the coax -- balun -- and the "T"
match junction.

I have used this on a lot of rovings and it works great!

If you need more detailed information, drop me a e-mail.
