[Rover] Friend looking into FT-100 vs. IC-706

A friend of mine asked me today which radio is better/prefered by the "VHF
crowd" for mobile/rover operations as well as VHF contesting and since I do
not own either one I said I would ask the "VHF crowd" for a responce.

I know this is going to be a mess but I promised to ask...

He is looking at mounting this radio in his Chevy Suburban for day to day
operations and some contesting either as a hilltopper or might even try
rover if he has the time. Also going to use it for some light HF work...

So ladies and gentlemen, let the responces fly!!!
