I've never owned either, but when I was researching which rig to buy I
discovered a pretty even split between these two rigs. Most Yaesu fans
prefer the ft100, while the Icom fans like the 706.
Some of the early ft100's had a lot of "bugs" that kind of gave them a bad
reputation. But I believe that Yaesu has them pretty well sorted out now.
Personally, I kind of like the looks of the display on the FT100.
