List,

A list member sent me a question about whatappears to be a typo in the Y2KR3 manual.

In addition to the answer I gave him I also sharedthe following information

A little history XXXX.  I had to do the whole R3 issue by myself aswhen I asked for editing help on the reflector several times I got zeroresponse, except for a number of excellent postings by Roger R.

It's many years later and now I'm 75 1/2. I haveposted lots of material for the list in the years following the R3 release.Everyone  is wiling to take the techpapers I write and most say thanks.  Butthat's all.

I have enough new material to produce a supplementfor the R3 and the SP 600 anthology that I authored.  I also digitized the R 390A schematics aswell as several variations of SP 600 and the R 620  which was published in ER magazine.

I enjoyed doing what I did.  The price i paid for that is I haven't reallyworked on my 14 -16 BA receivers I have. The person who was going to take overthe Y2KR3 project and supplement had to back out due to work obligations.

I don't regret the time I've spent doing what Idid. But for an example the digitizing of the the two R 390A sheets took about200 hours. Other articles I re-write take 12 to 15 hours as I have to scan, OCRtext and do a lot of picture editing.

As well as doing this, over the last 15 years I'vemade multiple parts purchases in 1,000 to 2,000 per item parts and then cut asweet deal for the list members.

Now my wife's health has declined more and I'm notfiring on all cylinders as well as the past.

I was trained on the R 390A in 1963 and what I'vedone is to help others who haven't had the same experience.  I feel it’s a moral obligation to helpothers.

I have no idea what the future holds for thetechnical updates.

For the last 50 or so years I've been anunrepentant circuit junkie. As an electronic technician I don't have any designengineering skills. Therefore, since I steal from many it is research. But ifit was just from one, it would be plagiarism. NOTE, I give full attribution tomy sources in the reproduced documents

I'm goingto send my 2-3 Gbytes of data to several people on the list so if I suddenlyleave for the big dirt nap, the data isn't lost and may become useful tosomeone in the future.

Regards,

Perrier
