[R-390] Getting bitten by the bug

I was in junior high in 1966. I would go to Electronic Center in downtown Dallas and drool on the boat anchors. On one trip I spotted a Hallicrafters SX-28 w/ a Halli speaker on a bottom shelf. I couldn't believe the price. It was marked $25.00. A set I could afford ! With a lot of huffing and puffing, I got it home and into my room. I built two 25' wood poles and put up a 40' dipole. I was in hog heaven. About three years later, Electronics Center had an SX-100 w/ speaker for $75.00. I put and ad in the nickel trader and sold the SX-28 to someone in the Dallas Ham Club for $25.00. I thought this radio hobby was great. I could buy a radio and use it for three years and sell it for the same price. I always regretted selling the SX-28. I bought another about 10 years ago. I found that the price had really increased since the 60's.
