[R-390] Torque and Clamps

Yes, lots of them.  Many years ago, I did a quick FEM on the clamps 
and discovered analytically what everyone knows from experience -- 
they were badly designed.  I tested a few to destruction as a sanity 
check on the FEM, and made a few hundred improved clamps that I used 
to replace broken ones.  From then on, I torqued unbroken original 
clamps to what the FEM and destructive testing indicated was the 
highest safe value (4.5 in-lb with threads clean and lubricated).

(1) If I were to post a guess, it would be clearly labeled as 
such.  (2) I would not post a guess, because I do not believe that 
guesses contribute anything to the discussion.
