The better way...and more inexpensive way now days is to pick up an
inexpensive SDR kit like the SoftRock. They sell them for just that use.
(455Khz IF) You plug the thing into your computer USB port and sound card
input and with some free software can get the bandscope functionality. I
think the kits are $40 or 50 and your time to build it and get it up and
running. It's pretty cool. Side benefit it can be used to demodulate SSB,
RTTY etc...
