[R-390] HP spectrum analyzer question

For that sort of thing, my favorite is the 3585A or B.  (Get an A -- 
Bs are still unnecessarily expensive, and don't perform any 
better.)  You can not only look at the radio's IF, you can hook it to 
your antenna and watch whole bands (or more) at once.  Frankly, with 
the abysmal content on the bands these days (broadcast, ham, 
everything), I get a lot more pleasure from watching the bands on the 
SA than listening to them.

Your first look at a local AM IBOC station will gross you out.
