[R-390] R-390A Restoration Progress (or lack of)

Strips don't usually have a GFCI in them, but the filter will pop the GFCI  
even if the filter is working correctly.  Otherwise, some more  troubleshooting 
is in order to find the fault.  Good suggestions already  offered.  I know I 
had to replace the microswitch on my lightly used Amelco  because it was 
sticking in the on position.
