[R-390] OT: Drake R8

Barry,
The seller may have just happened to have 2 Drake R8s for sale and listed  
one a few weeks after the other. The pictures look similar but they are not the  
same. I have done that before myself when I sold 2 Drake R8s a coupe of years 
 ago.
 
I like the Drake R8A a little better myself and held on to that one. It has  
a few more features compared to the original R8 but still has the optical  
encoder for the main tuning.
 
The R8B of course has the much better selectable-sideband synchronous AM  
detector which is a dream to use. However some people have had reliability  
troubles with the mechanical encoder used in the R8B main tuning. I haven't had  
any troubles with my R8B yet and it is a beautiful receiver.
