I would not choose a FRG-7; their dynamic range leaves a great deal to be
desired. I had the FR-101 version of this radio and while it was the best of
the Fox Trot 101 receivers that wasn't saying much. Also this entire line of
Yaesu radios are not aging very well the quality of the boards in these rig
are really bad and the gang switches are a nightmare, there is also a IC in
the power supply that is no longer made and as far as I no there is no
substitute for it. I would instead go for one of the Kenwood general
coverage receivers they are well engineered and the quality of the innards
is mucho better then the Yaesu's.

Subject: [R-390] 390A---and a bedside radio
Friends,
Got way too out of touch, but the390A that I sold my sp600 to help buy, in
the event anyone recalls...is great in the workroom, but not the bedroom...
(I del. the 600 in August to a nice guy in New Mexico. I believe he is going
to completely restore it..)..
However...I also sold the last 515 I had..The 390A is all of quality I now
have left...and want an "almost" bedside unit cheap...I want to do more
listening in the evening before sleep than at other times...so I am looking
for a FRG-7. They are more reasonable in price than the new super
recs.......Sorry I have little left to trade, but will pay dearly for a good
one from a friend, here...(I know they are on e bay, but I am scared of e
bay...)
Hope you can forgive this bit of off subject... But I do use the BEAUTIFUL
390A and enjoy it...If any can help with a FROG...please write...
My Regards, Always, John
