[R-390] Racal RA17L repairs

AB Bonds over on the boatanchors list just spent several
months refurbing one. Two words "never again". Seems
all the parts are mounted on little boards inside that
are perpendicular to the chassis. None of the components
are accessible unless you remove the whole board, he says.
Also on his it appears that in his particular receiver nearly
all the resistors were out of spec by at least fifty percent,
some much more, and all the caps were leaky.

Plays like new radio now. He did a wonderful job
with it and he had more patience than I would have
had.

I think he is close to being released from his stay at
the "inpatient facility." with the padded walls and the
funny jacket. Kept mumbling random things with a British
accent like "valves" and "colours" and "metres"...

Hopefully Roy had better luck!

heehee
