Having operated, maintained, repaired, and rebuilt these fine
american manufactured products for close to 40 years I have
found that certain feminine hygiene products work wonders while
performing PMCS on the subject receivers.
Especially if I spill any POL materials while lubing the swiss
clock movement. So now when I plan to oil down those gears and
rollers I place several panty liners, the ones with wings
really work the best as you can affix them to parts of the
chassis so they don't shift or get lost. Anyway, I just line
several of them up under the swiss clock movement to collect
the drippings from the lubing.
I have also found that a sanitary napkin is really great when
you want to wash down the front panel to get rid of all those
years of tobacco smoke, tar, and nicotine.
They are also good when you used a little rubbing compound to
rub out the panel and put that new blush of luster to your
resurrected warrior.
Another use of the sanitary napkin is to use them under the
receiver to protect to dinning room table from any scratches or
blemishes.
I have found that tampons, especially the ones with the plastic
stick applicators, can be used to clean between and behind the
gears, clamp, and rollers in the swiss clock movement and the
RF deck. The one with the strings are usefull for cleaning out
those dingy tube shields that have been sitting out in the
disposal yard for years.
There are more uses and products that I can describe but I will
save them for a later installment.
