[R-390] Some "goodies" heard on my '67 EAC.

Hi boys and girls and R-390() aficionados of all genre.

To quote a certain unsavory movie character, "I'M BACK"!

Last night I buckled down and decided to do some serious SW Listening. I
started out with the Yaesu VR-5000 but quickly warmed up the "26 glow
bottles" in The Behemoth (24 actually, it has solid state rectifiers).

My first intent was to concentrate on DXing but when I got to AFRTS out of
Hawaii I took a long hiatus. After catching the news at the top of the
hour, I was just getting ready to look for something else when they started
a Western Story by Louis L'Amour that caught my interest. I'm NOT a big
Western fan but this one was interesting. After that one I jumped directly
to AFRTS out of Guam as it wasn't in my logbook. I then looked for other
AFRTS stations out of Diego Garcia, Signella (sp?) etc but didn't hear them.

What are the "ONLY" correct radios to listen to AFRTS on? Why, a Military
Surplus R-390A or Hammarlund SP-600, of course!! And this one with the
Dallas Lankford AGC/BFO mods does VERY well on the USB (Upper Sideband) mode
used by these stations.

Conditions in ALL directions seemed to be quite good last night.
