Friends,
Interested in the Syncro AM mentioned in posts...but
still too high for my choice, and, by the way,...In
looking through old papers I have., .Reading test
results from Sherwood...I notice the listing (with a
missing item I believe) on the R-390a. I can't find
anything for the R-390..or from other test pros. or
EVER head to head with the R-390a. Truly extended
tests for the non a don't seem to have ever been
made..(???)
No head to head, and we still get arguments about the
best? And no head to head with the Rhode and Schw--
giant? (THAT would be some testing to see...), BUT...
who decides the paremeters for test methods..(have we
been over this ground before??? because if you use
various stabilizing methods like variacs, you might
make a difference...and even more, the equipment could
vary from radio shack...to HP commercial...!!Who
decides the paremeters of the test gear???) I guess I
should go ahead and buy all the white papers I can get
my hands on...P.T. said it a long time ago...
Wonder why? Is it because the big money boys would
lose a bit if they found the 390 testing out better
than the 390a, and made public...? A lot of money is
being made from antique electronics now..Just look at
the demand for very high grade "hi fi" tube equip
now..Have a friend with more money than sense, who
buys ANYTHING in old SUPERNAMES for either hi fi or
early stereo...
And then you have Racal, and Mckay-Dymec and Harris
and ..whatever else is the best (New TenTec??)
Ever wonder why some refuse to accept the 390 (or the
392 or 391) in the same breath with the 390a???
Long live the whatever..I forget...
Hope I have raised some ire...Regards, John (JLAP)
Oh, by the way...thanx for the help on Osterman...I
have taken care of it...THANX!!!
