Don't go too low on the voltage.  There is a comment in the Radiotron 
Designers Handbook
about cathode contamination if the filaments run too cool.

Out line voltage here is nominally 117 and is there most of the time, 
but this summer it often
droops to 112.  Ain't deregulation wonderful.
