[R-1051] R-1051G manual on line

I have two 1051Cs; I was told that these were USAF 1051B for missile silos.
Now, they look like 1051Bs but they have a different six pack. In fact, a
1051B's six pack doesn't work there unless an extra power voltage is added.

Pure speculation on my part but I always thought of the 1051A, B and C as
dogs and would think they were replaced as soon as possible with D and G
receivers. It's only antidotal but I have owned several A and B receivers
years ago and in the last several years bought and sold a couple of the G
series and although a lot of the innards are the same always though the G
was a better receiver. In addition to doing away with the original six pack
somehow feel the layout of the control panel was better along with the
veneer for frequency and the AGC control.
Never owned or saw a D or H and the last group of these radios that I saw in
storage were all G series.

Nick
I thought I could resist but it appears I can't.
Real men like 6 pacs and chains. OK just had to do that.
Nothing like a B that builds muscle as you change frequency.
I did note the G version main oscillator uses a phase lock loop. Unclear how
that actually works as there was not a feed back to the oscillator. So I
suspect its actually just an auto sense internal/external circuit for the
5 MHz.

Paul.
