You are 100% right, I suggest to use DF3CB's BV software (free!). You can
download it from the internet.

I suggest to look at BV - it will tell you the number of unique callsigns in
the log. Design the QSL to let you to print 2 or maybe even 3 contacts per
card (very useful for contest operations). Add something like 10% extra and
you'll be fine.

You can try to sell them or you can just use them at your post office.
Normally they sell for 1$/piece. Nowadays it's getting difficult.

I will not use LOTW. I prefer bureau QSLing both as a DXer and a manager. If
someone wants confirmation from me needs to have a card. I'm not interested
in those "hams" who have all the equipment to work all the dx on the bands
but they are greedy and selfish enough not to provide the "proper" way of
confirmation to others.
