set aside a work area where you can stage incoming cards. I have a big
table and a separate computer for this

good idea, the card printers can easily ship directly to you, that is how
XE1UN and I do it

if you can get it out of CT and into ADIF, most of the robust loggers will
suffice. I use DXBase, XE1UN uses DX4Win. we have little trouble moving
logs around. direct printing to the card is something I have not tried. I
have fiddled around with printing labels but generally just hand fill them
out. the volume is not too great.

ordering 5k cards would probably be overkill but one never knows. the more
unusual the station, the more qsls that will show up. contest operations
may not get as much traffic as a dxpedition. a good number of contesters do
not routinely qsl. on the other hand, most everybody else does. JA
operators are 100% remember you will not start to see bureau cards in
volume for a year or so. for a one time contest operation, there will be a
real big spike of direct requests right away then it will taper down.

I get them but do not try to exchange them, not a lot of volume for me;
gather that some post offices are easier to exchange than others. I just
use them for my own qsling. every qsl that comes in gets answered. even
the ones that do not include a SASE. there are enough that toss in a buck
to allow me to respond to everybody. if I go in the hole, no big deal, no
big bucks involved. many of the foreign operators will send a buck, this
means that there is 20 cents going into the kitty.

way too early to tell. lots more awards out there than ARRL.

have fun. Yuri and friends operated 6D9X in cq ww ssb and I am getting a
lot of requests.
