Hi Benny,
I did check in with Steve, WA5FRF, once within the last ~month.
You may find the time some of us don't, however I can attest that
being on the QCWA Board is a full time job, that is if you are doing the job!
I have to admit, I have been detained and preoccupied with other
activities besides QCWA. One has been the Calgary and area flooding
that has taken some of my ARES time as the Radio Amateurs of Canada
National Emergency Coordinator, and the other is coordinating and
helping organize the Calgary Stampede, for which I have been on this
committee for 25 years. This after all of the flooding that took out
the Calgary Stampede Rodeo grounds and our famous Saddledome. The
Stampede begins on July 5th, so we are still scrambling to get dried out!
Yes Benny, I do have other things to do besides QCWA. I also have a
wonderful wife, Linda-Lou, VE6LGO, who is trying to understand why I
am never around, a daughter, son and 2 grandsons, one of which I am
now heading out to attend his grade 9 graduation ceremonies.
Just a heads up, beginning next month I will not be around the base
station very much on weekends given the many camping trips planned
with family, hamfests (Glacier Waterton International Hamfest) and my
planned trip to Alaska that will entail some 6 to 8 weeks. Once I get
back from this trip I will be in Ft Lauderdale for the QCWA Board
meeting and then on the 10 day QCWA cruise with all of my fellow QCWA friends.
If you could have some compassion for those of us on the QCWA Board
who just may not be always checking into the 14.347 Sunday net at
2000z, that would be most appreciative. However, I personally will
endeavor to check in as often as I can.
Thanks!
73,
Ken Oelke, VE6AFO
