Ed,

To which Ill add that I buy my Dayton flights very early to save $$$$ since
I know Im going to be there year to year. I bought my tickets for 2009
last June of 2008 durin a sale and paid only $219 plus tax -- with my
mormal 10 PM arrival on Thursday night. Been doin that for years as it
woks well with West coast flights. (Remember -- Im almost 2000 miles from
Dayton and there are not a lot of flights.)

Even so, when the decision was made to hold the gathering in Dayton on
Thursday, I had to spend $150 so as to move my flight in a day early to
Wednesday so that I could be there. Its just the way it is -- a part of
life -- and we go with it.

As to why I just did not opt for an earlier flight on Thursday? There are
not very many going to / from Dayton anymore. AA only has two that connect
to Los Angeles and the early connection (a 44 seat RJ) was full. So I had
to back up a full day and still was luckly to get onto the MD-80 from DFW
to DAY.

When you live on the West coast and all the activities are primerally back
East -- and you are still full time employed -- you have two
choices. Either you can leave after work -- fly all night -- and then try
not to fall to sleep during a meeting. Or you can loose a days pay -- fly
in a day early -- and be a bit more bright eyed. When I was in my 30's and
40's I did the former. Now that Im in my 60's, I do the latter.
