Here ya go Larry.......you are right most of the Chapters are social
diner clubs with little or no interest to the majority of us who are
active Ham Radio operators. Here in our chapter we have heard it all
from why should I join, and pay way too much for a journal that is
not really interesting or in the 21st century, what does the QCWA do
on a national scene, except run a so-so QSO party twice a year
??? There are a lot of us in the 45-60 year old bracket that are not
very welcome in the inner circles of the QCWA, and our ideas are not
welcome, too radical ??? Well, the membership totals tell the
story....why do we have to have a cruise every two years for the
privilaged few that can afford it or have to work ??? Maybe the QCWA
needs to have a Sectional approach as does the ARRL, and have
regional or state coordiators that can energize the local existing
chapters, and create new ones that are active with DX, APRS, Fox
Hunting to name a few ??? I guess that is way to radical for the
folks in charge....the power would have to be shared locally, and
maybe the numbers would go up??? food for thought ............Matt Tinker AA4XA
