Call this 300.
Since the information is NOT available online, I'm going to make a few
assumptions.
At a minimum, I would think that we print 5000 copies of the Journal.
The Journal has three costs involved. One, the set up charge, meaning
somebody has to get it ready for printing. Two, the actual printing costs.
And third, the mailing costs. Unless somebody with access to the real
numbers can show the actual numbers and costs, personally, I doubt
if the 10% reduction in printing and mailing costs will justify the time
and
expense to reformat the Journal for electronic delivery. (Unless of course
the actual set up as delivered to the printer is a .pdf file.)
Now, out of the 300 people subscribed to the reflector, as an indication
of how many "electronically savvy" folks we have, when I asked for a
tally of who voted, I got a response rate of 40. (Or about 13%)
If that is a truer reflection of who will read an electronic version of the
Journal, then it certainly doesn't make any sense to do so financially.
To the best of my knowledge, QST isn't delivered electronically. And
they have a much higher ratio of costs that could actually justify it.
