My dad worked for North American Aviation in Inglewood, CA.
And we'd go to the "Craft and Hobby Fair" at the employee's
recreation center.
I was fascinated by a old oscilloscope they had at their club
station. W6UUI. And by the pile of equipment they had for a
station. Roland Peebles, WB6VPY (I know, he's changed his call
to AA6CO) took the time to get my code up and the theory for
my Novice license. Rick Krekemeyer, WA6FID used to kibitz
in the background while we were studying and would explain.
"They need to learn how to copy code through the QRM."
Meanwhile, Wolf Dryja, DL7JY would be pushing the envelope
on the finals at the club shack chasing DX.
Yuppers, that's been a while. Thanks Howard for making me
think back and remember that.
