Yeah Harvey/Bessie I think so. From my first entry into Hawaii
with (ARINC) which transferred me to HNL instead of sending
me back to Miami. I rode a taxi in from the Airport to a Hotel
and we were on Beretania part of the time. I asked the driver
if that meant something like Britain and he said yes far as I
can remember. The funny part was he had a very British accent
which I had'nt heard since was at ARINC at Naha Airbase.
Was over there when the first British Comet ever landed
at the base. It was a flight from Hong Kong to Okinawa and
we had to install special equipment called "DME" which was
someting like a trnsponder just for the Comet. "DME" stoof
for "distance mesureing equipment", and with the Comet you had
to know your "PNR" (point of no return) right down to the
Kilometer. They were takeing no chances they would run short
onfuel or anything like that.
