[QCWA] Elmer question - running a fax machine

In one of the learning units for the ARECC Level 3 course, there was a
question for thought posed asking if you know how to hook up a fax machine
to your radio.

 

The scenario is you're an ARES operator with a fax machine at hand but phone
lines are out.  You have traffic to send that is best sent by fax due to
details or drawings, etc.

 

I've found articles on HAL interfaces to hook up to HF but can you use VHF
or UHF?  If so, does anyone know how or what interfaces you'd need?
