[PVRCNC] Question: RF probe

OK. I know I can tune a tank circuit for maximum smoke with a simple RF 
probe and a multi-meter.

Is that same set up suitable for measuring actual losses through a low 
pass, high pass, or band pass filter looking into a 50 ohm dummy load?
(Assume the power level is less than 10 watts, or less if sufficient)

Is the accuracy suspect, or just limited by the accuracy of the multi-meter?

Just tinkering....Curious about the losses in various types of filters.

Answers/advice on or off list appreciated.
