W4KFC is gone.
W4BVV is gone.
W3GRF is gone.
W2PV is gone.
....
The whole list is a lot longer than that.
I wonder if anyone understands the foundation that these left behind.
It is hard to contemplate anything ham radio or especially contesting
without the echoes and progeny of their accomplishments in every nook
and cranny.
W3AU was the yard stick of the day. He put up antennas that for then
were fantasy made real. He put together a multi-multi team that is the
model to this day.
For a lot of us, beating out 'AU in some aspect of a contest was more
important than the score.
The 'AU team was the Yankees.
Rest in peace, Ed. Thanks for the memories.
