[Pro2006] pro-2006 Fading backlight problem?

I have a pro-2006 in mint condition except for the dimming backlight. Is =
there any other resource that can replace or repair it @ a reasonable =
cost and with quick turn around time. G&G said 4-6 weeks for service and =
return. I would buy the EL and do it myself, but i don't won't to take =
such a risk of doing any damage to a great scanner. Any help or =
suggestion's would greatly appreciated.
