[Pro2006] pro-2006 Fading backlight problem?

Buy one of these and stick it in the scanner, plug it into your  computer and
you will never have to worry about the Backlight again. OS456Lite Computer Aided
Scanning Board for 2005/2006 $159.00

By the time you buy the parts and send the radio out and have it shipped back to
you, + the two or three week wait, and insurance, and who knows what may happen
during shipping add them all up and you might have to spend 100 bucks just to
get the backlight replaced, spend another 60 or so dollars and get a much better
radio, actually a much much better computer operated radio or go with the CE232
and ProTurbo software, right Len.

I have a pro-2006 in mint condition except for the dimming backlight. Is there
any other resource that can replace or repair it @ a reasonable cost and with
quick turn around time. G&G said 4-6 weeks for service and return. I would buy
the EL and do it myself, but i don't won't to take such a risk of doing any
damage to a great scanner. Any help or suggestion's would greatly appreciated.
