Thanks for the many helpful responses. I have located a local buddy who can
read the good chip (assuming the security bit isn't set) and make a copy.
We'll see...
I have spent a while tracing the pinouts and it looks like it may be fairly
simple to reverse-engineer with some logic analyzer work. On the R-3030
schematic, a similar function is implemented with a 74C138 (1 of 8 decoder)
and some OR gates, so it appears to just be combinatorial - meaning I can
probably figure it out manually even. This GAL controls reading the keypad,
strobing the displays, etc.
It has been eons since I messed with PALs/GALs - I've been playing with
tube-type gear in recent years.
