Update - It is Alive!
This afternoon my buddy's Data I/O programmer managed to read the one good
GAL16V8 and create a clone. (Fortunately the security fuse was not blown,
but I had reverse engineered the logic and compiled a fuse map just in
case.)
Then tonight I managed to track down an audio muting problem on one channel
(unlike the R-3030, this has a FET-operated solid state relay) and both
receivers are playing fine now. I still need to fix a meter indication
problem on one side, but I am ever hopeful.
This rcvr, like the R-3030, drives L and R sides of earphones from L and R
receivers. So there's a nifty effect listening to the same signal in SSB
mode - the two TCXO's are slightly out of sync so the sound runs around in
your head as the oscillators beat against each other.....OK, I've been at
this too long.....

Thanks for advice, encouragement, etc.
