Gents,

Personally I would not contemplate using any receiver with rubber on the 
knobs.  The feel is not unlike that of a reptile such as a snake - and yes I 
have touched them in Africa and it's unpleasant.
If the radio was good enough I'd change all the knobs for decent ones from 
Raytheon, Berco or Rendar.

May I supplement with a question on the subject: with age the rubber ring
'loses its grip' on the plastic of the knob. Any advice on what adhesive to
use -and not use - in such a case would be welcome.

And after 20 years that is - touch wood - the only problem this excellent
receiver has had. :-)
