Hi All,

Please ignore, although there's nothing confidential in the mail bellow.

Rick, your mail server is bouncing my reply to your mail, so to that end
I've included it bellow.

Sorry to all other group members for the bandwidth abuse....

Hi Rick,

Thanks for your comments. Glad you enjoyed the website, it's very much
work in progress at the moment I'm afraid.
I intend to create a separate page for each receiver, linked from the
existing radio page. I.E. when you click on each receiver, a new page
opens with further pictures and a description, as well as the PDF data
sheets for the unit. I would also like to add the manual for each
receiver, although at present I only have a limited amount of free web
space provided by my service provider, hence the rather weird
http://myweb.... address. I am thinking of buying a domain name and a
decent amount of web space to do the hobby justice, but intend to use
the existing site to flesh out the site contents.

I do like the Schroff rack cabinets, although dropping on them at the
right price can be a problem. I have a 3U and a 4U one in the garage at
the moment and intend to rack mount all my gear at some point. I just
need a bigger shack....

I have to agree, the Marconi is one good looking radio, good luck in
finding any info on it. It is mentioned in the Osterman Bible, and a
couple of postings in the premium Rx archive, but apart from that does
not seem to exist :-)
If you do succeed in finding anything out about it, I would be
interested in hearing about it.
From a performance point of view, my initial impressions are a little
disappointing. It has the usual slightly weird DSP sound, and strange
AGC performance, but as with all software based radios is massively
configurable, so I may not have got the best out of it yet.... I have
only had it a couple of weeks, and acquired it as part of a package deal
with some other receivers, so have not had much chance to use it in
anger yet, having spent most of the last few weeks repairing the PR-2250
shown just bellow the Marconi on my site. This had a "burnt out" primary
in the mains transformer, and with no replacement transformer being
easily obtainable I have had to make up an external transformer
assembly, using several transformers to achieve the desired voltage /
current requirements. I now have the receiver working, but am still on
the lookout for the correct transformer.

Cheers,
Dave.S.
