Sorry, I didn't mean to start a whole thread on which was the first 
premium rx, but this is an early one, let's put it that way :^)

Some useful suggestions from Craig and  Peter.  Whatever the reasons for 
failure in this case, obviously Craig's suggestion to reprogram all the 
eproms in newly acquired gear is a very wise one, and in future I'll do 
that whenever I get a new radio or piece of test gear that has them.  
Meanwhile I'm working my way through my pile, and there's a lot in there...
