[Premium-Rx] Lubricants for Harris Radios and etc.

Hi Vic:

I have found that Radio Shack "Lube Gel" is a fantastic product. It's a
Silicon based grease that's made taking great care to keep oxygen out of
the mix (neither is in the ingredients nor in the preparation steps).
This is explained in the patent
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?patentnumber=5037566
So anything that's lubed with it will not have any oxidation. Which is
the cause of many problems.

It's a great replacement for Coax-Seal when installing coax outdoors.
Just put a 1/4" dab into the plug before mating and it displaces the air
in the joint. The dielectric constant of the Lube Gel is close to the
plastic insulator in the coax and so causes not problems like water
would with an Er of about 60. I have a theory that it would be good on
most electrical joints where there is a pressure point, but not when
there's no pressure point. Also good to put a dab into the connector
back shell when you make your own cables to waterproof them.

Radio Shack also sells a Teflon based oil in a pen sized applicator that
allows applying a very small drop, which may be as important as what oil
is used.
