Thanks, Jan/Greg -- I was afraid I had somehow caused the problem as the
list seemed to be fine until I sent in this post! I'll send it again and
see what happens. Thanks, all.
Hello, List. I know the fellows doing R-390A's and such are big fans of
Mobile-One for lubrication (for the RADIOS, guys!) but Harris specifies
Anderol 401D Silicone Oil and Dow Corning DC 44 Silicone Grease for upkeep
on their gear. The MFG wants either minimum orders on the magnitude of
GALLONS or the prices are .... excessive. The local auto parts stores have
'Teflon oil' which is really an unknown quantity here, and otherwise
unspecified 'silicone grease.' Is it possible to get those lubricants
specified by Harris in relatively small quantities? Would anyone care to
share what you have found to be the equivalents of those specified and is
it/are they available in user friendly quantities? I know you gotta pay for
the good stuff, but multi-kilobucks for a small tank car full of 'good
stuff' is not in the cards! <G> Thanks for the bandwidth -- have a great
weekend! Vic
