I think the proposed changes are reasonable. I agree.......I do not think that announcements regarding eBay, other auctions, newsgroups, or third party referrals should be allowed. I have seen a few reflectors become dominated by individuals who will take advantage of loopholes or lenience in the group rules.

Dear Fellow Members:
We continue to receive inquiries from our membership regarding the List's policy on the selling and buying of items which relate to Premium-Receivers. The 'no selling' policy was adopted about four years ago. Its justification at that time was to 'force' the submitted subject material to be related to technical information, NOT degenerate into a swap-meet, flea-market, SPAM, infested exchange.
About two years ago we started to relax the policy by allowing members to 'hint' that they are interested in selling or buying an item. As a result of this, we have seen some items being offered on the List, specifically, a number of receivers, some manuals, cooling fans, a source for coax connectors, etc. We have not received any complaints from the membership for the limited selling that has taken place thus far.
Given this, Jan and I would like to propose a change in the List's policy. We propose to allow announcements of buying and selling with the following guidelines:
1. All items must be directly related to the subject of Premium-Rx. Garden variety parts, boatanchors, etc., are not acceptable.
2. Announcements will be limited to personal items and shall not encompass commerical sales or services. Frequent posting by one individual will be taken to be commercial.
3. The SUBJECT LINE of such announcements must start with the letters "FS" (for sale) or "WTB" (want to buy). This will allow members NOT interested in such posts to set their internet software filters to automatically delete all such postings.
Example: Subject line: FS Harris 590 Lo Freq Audio Filter, ....... OR ....... WTB Harris 590 Lo Freq Audio Filter.
4. Announcements regarding eBay, other auctions, items from other newsgroups or lists, or any other third party postings are not permitted.
___________
Your comments regarding this possible policy change are welcome -
Greg and Jan
