Today I brought home a cool new HF receiver, a WJ-8716/MFP. It has the
following options:
=20
1.) SMO
2.) PRE
3.) MFP
=20
Firmware rev. 6.85
=20
I do not yet have docs, but I was curious if anyone has any background =
on
this instrument. It seems patterned after the 86xx series receivers, =
sans
- Ignored:
SDU and containing large mechanical IF filter modules. This may be me,
=
but
the receiver has "newer" features, e.g. DB9 (M) and mating (F) =
connectors.
Does anyone recognize these options, or, if background intel is =
available, I
would like very much to read any input anyone may have. Additionally, I
want to be able to procure a replacement battery backup for the =
receiver.
The device, mounted on the CPU PCBA, is a General Electric (GE) =
DataSentry
model D335D. The model number silk screened on the GE component has a
couple of letters somewhat obscured. I would like to verify this model
number prior to research into procurement. It holds stored memory well,
however, time moves on. If anyone can verify this, I would very much
appreciate it
=20
If anyone can shed light, in the short term, I encourage =
e-commiseration.
Also, I am acutely interested in the PRE option. Does it have the same
implication as the PRE option for the 86xx, or might I guess that it is
actually an internal preselector ? I still do not detect a serial =
output as
I would the 86xx receivers. This receiver seems to be finely tuned, =
e.g.
five IF BW's (.3, 1, 3.2, 6, 16 kHz) and seven demods (AM, FM, USB, LSB,
ISB, CWV, CWF).
=20
If someone can expose the uncompressed definitions of the acronyms 1,2,
=
and
3, this might allow me to more directly to address my concerns. This
receiver has keypad freq/BFO input, and relegates itself toward scanning
=
and
what I think is really cool "EXAM" (dwell) function.
=20
I really would like to hear from anyone who can provide more substantial
technical input to this specific receiver.
=20
As always, kindest regards to all !
