The WJ-9073-2 is a tracking preselector for the 8617/8618 series. It
requires a special option card inside the receiver that sends serial data
to the control the tuned frequency of the preselector. WJ internal notes
list it as working with the WJ-8617B-26 and WJ-8618B-19 receivers. Both of
these are S1 receivers that do not require matching EPROMS on options cards
and the processor board so I would assume the serial card is all that is
needed to make the preselector work with the receiver (only an S1 receiver
naturally).
I have never seen the controlling card or documentation and I don't even
know its 6 digit number. A former WJ engineer told me the data stream is
probably close to serial RS-232 as WJ never strayed far from this standard
in their designs. I have one on my shelf that I intend to reverse engineer
some day. My first guess would be to start with the preselector remote
control codes for the closely related 8615 series, which are in the 8615
manual.
