I want to thank Greg for a very kind introduction to this group.  I guess I
will begin by saying that I will be picking up a Watkins Johnson HF1000
receiver tomorrow, and I am excited about it.  I have a new JRC NRD-545
(with freq extender) which is my first wide-band introduction to full DSP.
After a gruesome introduction to the world of HF, the DSP architecture has
afforded to me a greater, and more understandable characterization of my
interests.    I am in the process of acquiring  WJ FDM demodulator(s) (WJ
9518 series analog and the 9548 series digital) and hope to marry the HF1000
receiver (and a couple WJ 8618 receivers) to.  Therefore, I would like to
hear from any members that may have ventured into these particular waters.

 

I do find difficulty with acquiring WJ user/maintenance documentation.  Of
course, it is there, but a bit pricey from the source, and there are very
few whom I have met that really know the hardware.  Again, I would like to
take the opportunity to correspond with those in the group who can share
experiences with WJ radios, and hopefully a source for even partial
documentation for some of the radios and extraneous hardware previously
discussed.
