    Gary,
You remind me of Motorola Days. We had the same problem
with a crap switcher under light load in RX and solved it the same way.
    TV rots your mind. fc

Guys,

I had this sort of problem with my computer CRT monitors. I bought LCD
monitors and the problem GOT WORSE.

It turns out that the little outboard switching power supplies that came
with them were horrible and generated all kinds of interference.

I threw them out and now I run the screens off my Astron linear 13.8 VDC
supply.

In that configuration all is quiet on the interference front...as long as I
keep my TV turned off. By the way, keeping the TV off solves the
interference problem caused by my ham radio linear too!

Snap some magic beads on the power and cable lines
and maybe you can reduce the conducted emissions
that later radiate. Might help. fc

You beat me to it Nigel- I know it isn't the answer Herb wanted to read,
but...... turning off the TV is an answer.

To assist Herb, I find my biggest nose generator is the FAX machine. It
generates a bursts about every 70 KHz all the way from 1.5 to 35+ MHz. I am

assuming it is the fast risetime of the uProcessor's data lines that is the
cause? My fix is simple, basically, if you want to FAX me, call ahead and I

will turn it on.

With the application of more dedicated uProcessors in everything from
refrigerators to perhaps the common tooth brush, this problem is going to
get ugly in the future. Further, while Herb can turn off the TV,
discontinuing the operation of the family refrigerator is not an option.
I'll put money on the fact that most of our membership already has the
problem in one form or another.

Herb, let us know if you find a solution, I got this feeling this is a topic

that will be revisited.

Greg
