OK Guys, here's the last one for today... I promise! ;o)
I have gotten hold of a Racal MA8134 Time Insertion Unit.
It looks like a time / date code generator and reader, and
it seems to be working. Need to replace an 8 volt gel cell
battery in it tho; that floats the time base oscillator during
AC power blips.
I bought it for time stamping tapes of intercepted signals...
sigs on one recorder stereo channel, time code on the other.
Besides... that red LED calendar / clock just LOOKS so very
cool in my shack! <<smile>>
It's a rack mounted beast, 2 units high. Painted Racal gray,
and appears to be Canadian manufacture.
If anyone knows anything about this beast, I've got a question.
The time code it generates / reads sure isn't SMPTE (didn't
expect it to be), but to my amazement it doesn't seem to be
any flavor of IRIG time code either. Anybody know what time
code standard this critter is using?
It's too much to hope for... but if you have a manual for this
beast, I'll pay for a copy of it.
73's,
Tom, W9LBB
