[PPRAANet] Lic Plates

Hello, Mr. Shaffer.

To this point, I haven't had the privilege of meeting you. However, I'm a
PPRAA member and enjoy being able to read messages on the PPRAA reflector.
I've read your accompanying message carefully several times.

I have three questions:

1. Which of the charges and fees you show in your message are the ones that
you paid under protest?

2. Did the supervisor provide you with any additional or different
information with respect to that which you received from the clerk?

3. With respect to your comment about "bureaucracy" having a price of $4.28,
what would you recommend as a reasonable price structure for obtaining ham
radio call sign license plates?

Although I don't have call sign plates on my vehicle, I have had them in
various states where I've resided during the years that I've been privileged
to be an amateur radio operator. My opinion, based on what I've read here on
the reflector over the past two weeks or so, is that Colorado has a
cost-effective and timely call sign plate application process. Our (your's,
mine, other's) being able to have the "slashed zero" (Ø) is something that
isn't or wasn't provided by some states when "Zero Land" applicants wanted
to avoid having plates that looked like KEOQCC or KOAA.

>From my perspective, the fee of $11.92 that you paid seems quite reasonable
for what the DMV will provide to you (or me).

Ordinarily, I wouldn't write an email about matters pertaining to Colorado's
charges and fees for providing amateur radio license plates. However, I'm
wondering what the clerk and his/her supervisor might think the next time
someone goes into their office to obtain amateur radio license plates. I've
read messages here recently that caused me to think the folks at the same
DMV office you visited appeared to some hams to be significantly more
helpful and informative than some of their counterparts at other locations.

Thank you in advance for reading this message.

Sincerely,

Phil KØAA

Interesting morning, not!
Went to Powers & Airport Motor vehicle office.
Did not like the clerks $ numbers.
Asked for Supervisor, phone call made, result same $ numbers.

Call Letter Plates $2.00
Clerk hire Fee $4.00
Material Fee (Month Tab) $0.11
Material Fee (Plate) $5.64
Material Fee (Year Tab) $0.17
                                             $11.92
Paid under protest but the plates were only $2.00 plus $5.64 for the metal
plus $4.28 for bureaucracy.
Just saying! Looking for complaint form or is this the experience others
have had?
George
