This is scary for us, but if any of you still have parents alive and who are active with email, please warn them too!

My mom got an email this summer supposedly from a church member asking for her to send $1,000 to him in the Philippines! (That should have been the first red flag!!) She went to Walmart to get a money transfer. She had forgotten the paper with the details at home, but thankfully the Walmart employee was smart enough to realize a scam and didn’t let her transfer any money! She went back home and called the guy from church and he’d told her that he’d told others at the church that his email had been hacked. She had forgotten that!

CRAZY and SCARY that she actually believed it and was all ready to send him money! She told me that a lot of her church members are retired and travel so she didn’t think anything unusual about it. She wouldn’t have thought anything about it earlier in the year when she was struggling to pay bills, but she’d sold her house and had some extra money at the time.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night! :)
