I suspect that it's a _LOT_ more likely that the Icom product manager
for the PCR100 and PCR1000 line is trying to cover up bad hardware or
firmware design. The radios appear to be _extremely_ vulnerable to
having some or all of the configuration data destroyed by garbage on
the serial link.
And their behavior has caused me to resolve that this, the first Icom
product I've ever bought, will also be the last -- until Icom changes
its ways.
If there are any Icom employees or managers lurking, you should print
this and take it up the line to someone with the stroke to change this
behavior. Driving business away is _not_ a good business model.
