[PCR-1000] search for Bonito Radiocom Software 4.0 !

  The product is several years old-- the "approved" software is almost
  a decade old and from what I understand, has had only one update.
  This is not exactly a product they're trying very hard to support.

  Chances are good they'd *like* the whole product to just disappear and
  be forgotten about.  They sure seem to be doing their best to make
  that happen.


  The real shame is that most of our amateur gear is from Icom, but if
  my only experience with Icom was the PCR-1000, I wouldn't want to
  deal with them either.


  It is also worth remembering that their "receivers" and "amateur"
  gear are likely under very different management structures, even
  though a major consumer of their receiver gear are amateurs.  The
  quality and business practices of the receivers group may not be as
  open and friendly as the amateur group.  Amateurs are expected to rip
  the cover off and poke around.  Aviation customers, on the other
  hand, are not (nor any of their other major product groups, for that
  matter).  The receivers group might not really understand what their
  customer base is (which is dumb), but it would explain why they are
  so up-tight about the whole thing.
