[PCR-1000] search for Bonito Radiocom Software 4.0 !

I've never understood what all the fuss was about running the standard Icom
software on XP. I've been doing it for 2 years now - on three different
systems (2 with XP home and one with XP/Pro). The 'fix' to set one
parameter in the .ini file:
Original: TOOLBARSHOW=1
Changed: TOOLBARSHOW=0
was all that was needed - it was uncovered by a user within a few weeks of
the initial release of XP. The only 'downside' to the change was the need
to then bring up each view with the pull down menu in lieu of an on-screen
button.

Icom's 'policy' about software for the PCR1000 radios (including the PCR100)
seems a bit bizarre and way out of step with how they operate for other
product lines. The same statement can me made comparing Icom's PCR1000
policies Vs. that of their competitors like WinRadio. It seems that the
PCR1000 product managers are way out of step with Icom's typical customer
relationship strategies - or are just trying to cover up some bad software
design and engineering.., all of which would be easier to fix than make
excuses for.

WinRadio published not only their specs and protocol, but also provided some
visual basic tools to allow users of that brand to easily design control
programs. WinRadio offered new radios as prizes for the best software
feature & model each year. The result was a flood of contributed software
for all the users !

Steve,
In Europe ICOM distributed the Radiocom 4 software with the PCR-1000 for
a while, until they got their own software running under Windows XP.
When this happened, they no longer distributed RadioCom with the
PCR-1000.

Things may be different in the USA - I don't know.

You can obtain both RadioCom and Board Terminal software from
www.marinecomputing.com/
