Hi Kenneth,
pretty good set up
my advice is to use it-get to know the 1000 using what you have. The 
preselector will aid reception below 30mHz.
When you have tried it and listened for many hours/days/weeks/seasons 
etc then you can try different aerials etc and you will then tell the 
difference.
You will then know what bands you feel are worthy of speialist aerials .
I think you will enjoy the 1000.
